JOCELYN HAS BEEN FEATURED ON:

As I shared in this blog post, there is an important link between leaky gut and recurrent miscarriage, likely due to inflammatory and immune reactions to the endometrium.

New research from Italy and Iran has highlighted links between zonulin (a biomarker of intestinal permeability, or “leaky gut”), and inflammation-related pregnancy complications. There were significant increases in serum zonulin in women with gestational diabetes (GDM) compared to healthy controls, and higher zonulin concentration in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP).

As mentioned in the earlier blog post, leaky gut can be assessed with the intestinal permeability test, and also by serum (blood) levels of zonulin for those that would prefer to not undergo the sugar test. Leaky gut is treatable and well worth addressing during pre-conception.

I hope you have found this helpful, and do let me know if you have any questions!
