74% of pregnant women will experience nausea or vomiting during their pregnancy, most commonly during the first trimester.
While ginger is a well known remedy for nausea and vomiting, Vitamin B6 is a promising option as well, and has been shown to decrease both feelings of nausea and episodes of vomiting.
Vitamin B6 can be taken safely in pregnancy in doses up to 100mg per day. If taken orally (pill form), the suggested dose is 25mg, four times per day. B6 can also be given intra-muscularly (typically a shot in the deltoid muscle) or intra-venously as part of a modified Meyer’s Cocktail (where it is combined with other B-vitamins, Vitamin C, and intravenous fluids – which can be fantastic if you are dehydrated from vomiting!).
