JOCELYN HAS BEEN FEATURED ON:

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder affecting a significant number of women in their reproductive years, often leading to infertility due to chronic anovulation.

Now, a study from the Faculty of Medicine at Tobruk University in Libya has explored the effectiveness of Myoinositol, an insulin-sensitizing agent also known as “Vitamin B8″, in combination with Metformin for treating PCOS-related infertility.

Over an eight-month treatment period with 800 patients in two groups (Myoinositol 2000 mg and Metformin 850 mg, versus Metformin 850 mg alone), significant improvements were found in the first group – including serum glucose and insulin levels; and menstrual cycle regularity and follicle diameter. Researchers concluded that the combination of Myoinositol and Metformin is effective for improving laboratory, clinical, and ovulation outcomes in PCOS patients with infertility.

The results of this research suggest that the combined use of Myoinositol and Metformin offers an effective treatment option for women suffering from PCOS-related infertility. While the group treated with both agents showed better outcomes, including pregnancy success, the study underscores the importance of addressing insulin resistance in managing PCOS. This combination treatment appears to have a positive impact not only on clinical symptoms but also on laboratory measures, offering a promising pathway for improving fertility outcomes in women with this common disorder.
